English summary
My motif no 16 (this number is correct Sharon, there are two small motifs I’m not counting), a square doily, is done. The pattern is from the book Tatting theory and patterns of Jan Stawasz, and made in Ören Bayan no 50, a lovely Turkish thread.

This pattern caused me more problems than usual; it was as if the logic of the pattern (number stitches at the various places) did not fit my brain. I had to cut away a lot and start over several times. The cause is not a difficult pattern; I just did not read it properly. And it did not help that the number stitches was written in one area of the diagram for the rings and another area for the chains.

Even though I had problem with this pattern, I might use it again, and now I know I have to read it thoroughly. I love the rings of rings that appear in the corners of the small square motifs.

That is so pretty! I have known that tatting existed for a long time but have never really checked it out. I'm going to have to get a good how-to book and give it a try!

Oh, I've had the same problem with reading Jan's patterns but this is so beautiful, it is well worth the effort. I know now to review the numbers on the diagrams before I start and fill in the gaps with my pencil. LOL! Lovely work!

Hi Ann, Could you tell me the color number you used for the Jan doily. IT is so very pretty. And the color thread you used is so much like something I would tat with.
