I spent nine days of this year summer vacation on a trip to China. The trip was one of several arranged by Mitt Kina for the total solar eclipse July 22nd. This is the first of several posts concerning the trip.
The trip started early Saturday morning (July 18th) on a flight from Tromsø to Oslo, then from Oslo to Helsinki and onward to Shanghai. It took a good 18 hours counting the flights and waiting at airports. We took the world's fastest maglev train from the airport to Sanghai.

Shanghai has a lot of skyscrapers. Before lunch we visited one of those and got a good view of the City. We did some walking in the warm City, on the Peope's Square and the Nanjing street, and me and some others from Tromsø had to cool down by having some ice-cream.

After dinner we went on a boat trip at the Hangpu River. Still rather warm even if it was in the dark of night – if you can call the night in Shanghai dark with all the illuminated buildings.
